Beauty Sold

Beauty SOLD

Beauty in the shallow eyes, of those
Who determine its fare value
Those that gaze and look upon
Ones that can never know you

Oh, wish they knew what hides  behind
The flesh and bones that are original make up
To dig and search for a truer beauty
Skewed opinions ,would not ever hold up

I've looked the harder to make my choice
To see, what  others never thought of
Removed from observances, of a fictional gaze
To the truer value ,that razes it far above

Now who could fault them, for what they saw
Hidden behind a mask their own
Eyes residing  behind little painted holes
Never wide enough to see the beauty they are shown

So where is the conclusion to this misconception
The definition of  beauty  we truly  hold
Now twist this around in your mind for a while
And consider the worthless image you've been sold
