Void

Open and outstretched
Are empty arms held
No bundles there to hold

Where should be pleasantness
Is sorrow now found
By those left to the cold

Why this could happen
Though you are not alone
Still a void is locked inside

Fare and well meant
Are the words you hear
Emotion no one to confide

Memories that never will
Be the bright visions
In the years that become past

Perhaps in eternity
All tears are wiped dry
In a future already cast.

I found you there.... Visiting Carnton Plantation here in Franklin I found the name of a confederate soldier from South Carolin...
