No particular place

No particular place was it at all,

Went the man, with the Southern drawl

Walking quickly, would be such a sin
If nowhere he went, then went back again

There has to be a place, to be going he thought
Perhaps to the grocery,  delicious taste could be bought

Maybe he was strolling, to meet an old friend
Yes! that was the purpose, of his  "back again"

So strolling he was going, quickening his pace
To see a warmer smile , from a friendlier face

To talk of rare times, between then and how
Remembering the " why", they were even friends now

Through trials and fights, and words you can't take back
Yes, that's where he was going, he was on the right track

First down one street , then he turned  on the other
Past yellow picket fences, through the gate of another

Up three short stairs, that raised  toward the door
Then without knocking, strolled he onto  that floor

He past through the kitchen , then  made a harder right
To where his  friend faithfully , had slept every night

He finally came to a stop, speaking with his Southern tenor
To the friend he was seeking, his friend in the mirror....

Words mean things

Words with intent , or even without

Said with emotion, or matter of fact

Born in the brain, or even much deeper

Words mean things

Terribly frightening, or quietly polite

Driven by passion , or cold and calm

Broken little fragments, or larger than your arm

Words mean things

"Bless your heart", or even crueler

Big toothy words, or tight lipped silence

Cautionless adjectives, or well thought out nouns

Words mean things

Words mean things, or maybe quite not

Like" I love you", or "We can work this out"

Picture perfect pronouns, or predicated adverbs

Words mean things....

Irish Eyes

When Irish eyes are smiling,

and Shamrocks feel the ground

When leprechauns go a leaping,

to their treasured ground

When cheerful thoughts of Emerald Isles,

prance upon your mind

When glasses are raised and raised again,

may happiness you find

When fiddlers play a joyful tune ,

and feet begin to dance

When snakes are driven far away ,

with bow and righteous lance

When all you've wanted rest before your eyes,

but you can only see

When Irish eyes are smiling,

Oh please remember me..............

On the sand......

On the sand, all alone

gasping in salty ocean air

why to the gasping ,done in remorse

for all the moments, now shared

why in such beauty ,warm and pleasant

what could be happening here

you should not be dying, here all alone

in wonderful, bright warning sun

others do frolic, all the day long

passing, and looking in awe

seeing your beauty, fading away

fair fishy, shaped in a star

so back to the ocean, as tide rolls back in

salty water, fast on your skin

back to the ocean, where you belong

my wonderful, star fishy friend

Her Reckoning

Here she goes,

Her heart beckoning

Yesterdays all

Gone away

Tomorrow’s pain,

Fixed inside

Guiltless moments,

She can’t pay

Bitter tears pool

To reflecting

Today’s the day,

Of her reckoning

She has no chances,

To be seconding

Deepest regret

She cain’t hide

Ain’t no fault,

Her affection

Pity that won’t

Ever be applied

What love brought,

Is she questioning

Today’s the day,

Of her reckoning

" What If "

Trying to think, to write, to speak

Only in recollection of then

To the beginning, of all that was

And may, come back again

Hands that clasp, won’t let go

Palms set, closed in sweat

Running, dancing, through this life

And a chance, not taken yet

This beautiful, poetic, field of dreams

Expanse that must never end

Please, keep running, with intent

My once forgotten friend

Turn and gaze, don’t let go

Hold tighter, now embrace

Kiss me here, for all the world

And quicken, this passioned pace

To the end, and then right through

Where all lovers find their place

That magical, wonderful, lonely land

That “what if “, will always chase

Remember

Remember, remember

Back long ago

Remember sweeter smiles

Recall, recall

Softer voices

Recalled in walks of miles

Return, return

To dreams again

Return to start anew

Rewind, rewind

To captured hearts

Rewind to what we knew

I found you there.... Visiting Carnton Plantation here in Franklin I found the name of a confederate soldier from South Carolin...
